St. Marys EarthKeepers Host First Annual Celebration

ST. Marys, GA—In recognition of the one-year anniversary of bringing curbside recycling to St. Marys and the success of other initiatives, St. Marys EarthKeepers is hosting a special celebration event on October 28, 2008. The public is encouraged to attend the event which will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the City Economic Building at 400 Osborne Street.

The agenda for the evening includes entertainment, information, and inspiration as well as complimentary refreshments.

Children will be an integral part of the event line-up as St. Marys EarthKeepers prepare to launch a Junior EarthKeepers division. A musical performance by elementary school students, student project presentations, a Cumberland Island wilderness tour update, Go Green Osprey report, discussion of EarthKeepers accomplishments and goals, and a stirring presentation from Mother Earth herself are all part of the evening's festivities.
The gathering will culminate with a brainstorming session that encourages the community's input for better Earthkeeping in St. Marys and surrounding areas.

According to St. Marys EarthKeepers chair, Frank Quinby, the event is designed to get the community involved in efforts that will ultimately make all residents better Earth stewards.

"Our vision has always been to create a community that is sensitive to the needs of an increasingly threatened environment and address those needs in a timely and effective manner," Quinby stated.
