Become an official Earthkeeper

Thank you for your interest and support. The St. Marys EarthKeepers
have attained a gratifying level of success within the community due
to the commitment of people like you: people who are aware of the
fragile nature of our environment and are willing and eager to
demonstrate their good stewardship by effecting positive change.

Curbside recycling is now a reality in St. Marys, and this represents
a massive step forward for us all. Increasingly, neighboring
communities are contacting the EarthKeepers for support and guidance
as they strive to implement recycling programs of their own. The
ripple-effect of Change is a formidable force and, once citizens
witness the benefits of being proactive, the sense of empowerment and
pride serves to propel us into a promising future.

But there is much still to be done. Education is an on-going process:
educating our children, our commercial sector, tomorrow's leaders and
our community. Though the recycling compliance rate is extraordinary
high (for which we can all be proud), we still have a long road to
travel.

The EarthKeepers' presence at festivals, special events, City Hall,
our schools, and work-places serves to remind us all of our shared
responsibilities as global citizens. Change comes from within. It
begins in our own homes and hearts – and the joining of hands within
our communities.

The St. Marys EarthKeepers is a grass-roots organization that was
born of the love of our unique local environment. As are all such
entities and organizations, St. Marys EarthKeepers' genesis is found
in the sharing of thoughts and ideas…and we warmly welcome your
participation.

Our goals are:

• To work within the community to identify areas of environmental
concern.
• To inform all members of the community as to the nature of these
concerns and the planned approach to addressing them.
• To work closely with local, state and federal associations,
agencies and groups in order that we may better affect positive
environmental change.
• To plan and participate in special events and activities that
celebrate and preserve the environmental quality of St. Marys.
• To promote results-oriented public-interest activism that protects
and enhances the environment of St. Marys.

We invite you to join us as we move into a brighter tomorrow. Your
membership in the St. Marys EarthKeepers means that you are given a
voice—and the tools to change the path of the future.

Please visit our website at www.stmarysearthkeepers.com . Here you
will find intriguing environmental facts, updated news regarding the
efforts of the EarthKeepers, and a membership form. Membership levels
range from $5 to $5,000, but the knowledge that you're CHANGING THE
WORLD IS PRICELESS! We look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you so very much for taking the time to consider the importance
of your becoming an official EarthKeeper.
Sincerely,
Frank Quinby, Chairm

upcoming events

It's been almost one year since our triumph of bringing curbside
recycling to St. Marys. I'm happy to report that St. Marys is still
experiencing a well above average participation rate. Please make a
note of two upcoming events for the St. Marys EarthKeepers:
1)October 4 Rock Shrimp Festival Parade--Once again, we would love to
show the community our unified spirit and showcase our continued
mission. Please let me know if you can walk or ride in the parade. We
will have several golf carts.
2)October 28-Annual EarthKeepers Gathering at 7 pm in the Economic
Building 400 Osborne Street. I will send out a notice closer to the
date detailing the agenda. We're hoping for a big turnout as we
launch our membership drive. Two items the board has been working on
are: Commercial and school recycling programs.
Best regards to all. Looking forward to seeing everyone in October.
